CHALLENGE
To create a Spring/Summer lookbook film for fashion brand SCRT. The film had to revolve around three themes: The Medium is the Message, Danse Macabre, and Taxi Driver.
APPROACH
Discovery began with exploring the central theme: Taxi Driver. By pulling out iconic scenes, lines of dialogue and the jazz soundtrack we began to build the foundations of our storyboard. From there, we layered in allusions to Marshall McLuhan’s “medium is the message” theory such as televisions screens, projections and static imagery. We used a blend of 16mm and 4K footage, manipulated with different light spills and grains to explore different-looking mediums within the film. Finally, the Danse Macabre imagery that is peppered through SCRT’s collection is reflected in our film, with various allusions to skeletal or death imagery included.
